It is with great pleasure that we announce Andrew Warden as the 2019 recipient of the Judith May Volunteer Award, presented on June 7, 2019, at the IWMF Educational Forum in Philadelphia, PA.

The annual award recognizes the spirit of volunteerism that Judith so aptly demonstrated throughout her 20+ year career with the IWMF, including leadership in member services, research, advocacy, and as president of the IWMF from 2005 to 2012.

Andrew Warden is affiliate leader of WMozzies, a patient support organization for the WM community in Australia, and he has had a significant positive impact on patients in Australia and beyond. Besides taking on the role of affiliate leader, Andrew has been key in the development of the WhiMSICAL registry, the first worldwide registry with WM patient data for use in research. Andrew’s work in developing numerous support groups and a website, as well as his strong association with the Leukaemia Foundation of Australia, has contributed significantly to both the WMozzies and the IWMF. Thanks in large part to his continued leadership and hard work, the WMozzies are growing and thriving.

Andrew was presented the award by Carl Harrington, president of the IWMF, during the Welcome Dinner at the 2019 IWMF Educational Forum in Philadelphia, PA.  He received a standing ovation and enthusiastic support for his leadership.
